Our Projects

Advantis Blue C - Accelerated Natural Re-Generation of Mangroves

Project Overview

Mangroves play a crucial role in supporting diverse species and act as a vital defense against climate change by absorbing significant amounts of carbon dioxide. Recognising their importance, Advantis partnered with key stakeholders to launch a project focused on accelerating the natural re-generation of mangroves at Anawilundawa in Sri Lanka. This RAMSAR wetland has faced degradation due to human activities, highlighting the urgent need for restoration efforts.

As the strategic partner for this project, Advantis collaborates closely with the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Department of Forests, Wayamba University, and Wildlife & Nature Protection Society to ensure the success of our restoration initiatives. Together, we are committed to preserving and rejuvenating this critical ecosystem for the benefit of both local communities and the environment at large.

Project Objectives

  • Re-establish Biodiversity:
Restore as much of the original biodiversity as possible to the regenerated area.
  • Restore Natural Water Flow:
Establish natural water flow and soil characteristics to facilitate the accelerated natural regeneration of mangroves.
  • Enhance Livelihoods:
Improve the livelihoods of local communities while ensuring that the restored area is accessible and enjoyed by all.

Project Details

  • Area of Restoration:
The project aims to restore approximately 45 hectares of the mangrove ecosystem at Anawilundawa.
  • Infrastructure Support:
Advantis has donated a research laboratory to facilitate mangrove research activities in the vicinity of Anawilundawa.
  • Research and Participation:
Research and Participation: Employees from 30 companies of the Advantis Group have actively participated in research activities, collaborating with Wayamba University students and the Wildlife & Nature Protection Society to support the regeneration of mangroves.

Puritas Sath Diyawara

Project Overview

In the Puritas Sath Diyawara project, Advantis has taken a pivotal role in addressing the pressing issue of access to clean drinking water. Through the installation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, we aim to provide purified drinking water to communities in areas of Sri Lanka where Chronic Kidney Disease is prevalent due to a lack of access to clean drinking water.

Project Objectives

Our primary objective is to alleviate the burden of Chronic Kidney Disease by providing safe and potable drinking water to affected communities. The RO plants act as purification units, effectively filtering out harmful substances from water sources.

Project Details

Advantis has demonstrated continuous support for this cause by investing in three water plants under the Puritas Sath Diyawara project. These plants are strategically located in Balayawewa, Neriyakulam, and Agala Oya village, situated in Girandurukotte, Mahiyanganaya. Through these efforts, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of communities affected by the scarcity of clean drinking water.
